If you are an active person in the world of Social Media then you must have heard about Social Media Week. If not, I guess either you are not active on social media or your definition of being active does not match with the one that we can find in the dictionary. Social Media Week is undoubtedly the best event for people related to social media industry. You can listen, learn and interact with some of the top minds in social media. Everybody knows that, right?
Last week I attended the Social Media Week in New York and before sharing my experience I thought to highlight 7 things Only People Who Attended Social Media Week New York (SMWNYC) Know.
1. Awesome Opening & Closing Parties
2. Well Organized
An event loses its charm if anything goes wrong. But this was not the case with SMWNYC, everything went smoothly thanks to the Management and SMW volunteers. Everything at SMWNYC was well organized, the moment you enter the venue you will be greeted by the registration desk where they will issue you a pass and then you can head over to the central area to check details of all the sessions you wish to attend.
3. Nokia Pods
Nokia Pod was one of the coolest and innovative things we saw at the SMWNYC. These small self-contained units were sound proof, and they can be used as a quiet place to make calls, charge phones, write a blog post or even watch a live stream of an event which was full.
4. Free Samples & WiFi
Everybody loves free stuff, right? At SMWNYC you get tons of free stuff including pen drives, pens, office accessories, sunglasses, chocolates, drinks, WiFi and much more. We also got amazing black & white portrait from @leica_camera and cartoon caricature drawn from @140proof.
5. Awesome SMW Elevator (@smwelevator)
How many of you know that there is an Elevator at SMWNYC, and it has only one rule : “Only the worthy shall pass”. No matter how hard you try to please it but it treats everyone equally.
@HumaraKausar I love all disciples equally. No special treatment…although a plot by the stairs has me shaking in my elevator shaft…

6. Nokia Now Studio
Now Studio was a full video studio where vine artists from around the world were teaching attendees how to create amazing stop motion videos using Vine. Did I mention that these vine artists spend days creating a good quality and awesome looking vine?
7. Great Food
During the entire week, great food from local vendors was available at the SMWNYC campus. So you don’t need to leave the campus for breakfast or lunch and then rush back to attend a session.
You must be thinking that if you haven’t attended the SMWNYC you have missed just these 7 things, right? Wrong, if you haven’t attended the SMWNYC in addition to above mentioned 7 things you have missed a great chance to interact with like-minded people, brands, companies, etc. You have also missed a chance to attend few amazing sessions & master classes which were not recorded for later viewing.
